Jones Wins St. John's River Elite Event

PALATKA, Fla. — Major League Fishing angler Alton Jones took top honors at the first B.A.S.S. Elite Series event of the season, the St. John’s River Showdown, which concluded Sunday.

Jones won the title with a four-day total of 75 pounds, 9 ounces. He withstood a last-day charge by Todd Faircloth, who finished second with 74 pounds, 7 ounces..

Three other Major League Fishing anglers – Skeet Reese, Greg Hackney and Dean Rojas – finished in the top 12 on Day 3, allowing them to fish on the final day of competition. Reese finished fifth (64-5), Hackney eighth (57-7) and Rojas 11th (54-6).

Jones, Faircloth and Reese all advanced to the Sudden Death round in the Major League Fishing Challenge Cup, which is currently airing on an Internet-based pay-per-view called ADVANCE CAST.
