MASSENA, N.Y. — Jacob Wheeler has officially reclaimed the Fishing Clash Angler of the Year crown on the Bass Pro Tour. Saturday’s Knockout Round at Minn Kota Stage Seven Presented by Humminbird on the St. Lawrence River served as a coronation.
While Wheeler — who bucked the trend as the only angler on the water to catch more largemouth than smallmouth — fell a bit short of the Top 10 cut, thus ending his 2024 campaign, there was still plenty of reason for celebration. Wheeler claimed the points title for the third time in the past four years, joining an elite list of pros to win three national tour AOYs. He wrapped up Stage Seven in 14th place, bringing his final points tally to 515 (an absurd average finish of 8.4) and putting himself more than 30 points clear of his nearest pursuer.
The Top 10 anglers will wrap up the 2024 season during Sunday’s Championship Round. Catch all the action on the MLFNOW! livestream at MajorLeagueFishing.com and the MyOutdoorTV (MOTV) app from 7:45 a.m. ET through 4:30 p.m.
