TULSA, Okla. – The 80 anglers on the Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour have been given their group assignments as they head to Raleigh, North Carolina this week for the Favorite Fishing Stage Three Presented by Evinrude. The two groups of 40 anglers (Group A and Group B) will compete in the Shotgun Round and then the Elimination Round for a Top 20 spot in their respective groups for the right to move on to the Knockout Round.
Stage Two winner Edwin Evers anchors Group A along with the 2019 Summit Cup Champion, Mike Iaconelli. MLF NOW! analyst Marty Stone has his eyes on a few select anglers in this group.
“The Oklahoma guys are the guys I’m looking at,” Stone said. “Edwin Evers, Tommy Biffle, Jason Christie and Zack Birge are guys who like to fish these kinds of lakes. But one guy who I think this lake is built for is Andy Morgan. I think if there is going to be one stage where Andy absolutely smokes them this is going to be it.”
Jordan Lee took home the Stage One trophy in
“I look at Greg Hackney as a guy who can do well in this group,” Stone predicted. “I think these lakes are perfect for flipping and pitching but they are also great for a shallow crankbait. That makes me think of Russ Lane, Roy Hawk, Britt Myers, Brent Chapman. However, I really think this is going to be a Justin Lucas coming out party. I think he got his feet under him at Lake Conroe in Stage Two. He is starting to become the kind of angler that no matter where we go, he’s going to catch them.”
Group A gets Stage Three started on Tuesday, Mar. 26 and Group B begins competition on Wednesday, Mar. 27. The MLF NOW!
