CollegeFishing.com: How were you introduced to fishing?

Elliott Myers: My dad introduced me to fishing not long after I started walking. Once I got a little older he would take me to fish local club tournaments with him.

Nicholas Schuetz: I have been fishing with my family since I started to walk. I first started tournament fishing when I was 13.

CollegeFishing.com: What style/method of fishing are you most comfortable with?

Elliott Myers: Junk fishing and power fishing are what I feel most comfortable doing. I love to flip-and-pitch and throw a frog.

Nicholas Schuetz: I’m more comfortable with power fishing – no sissy sticks allowed.

CollegeFishing.com: What did it feel like to qualify for the 2013 FLW College Fishing National Championship? How do you plan to prepare for the big event?

Elliott Myers: It was a great accomplishment to qualify. We have been working towards nationals ever since we set out to fish the qualifier. It means a lot for the both of us and we are going to give it our all. We have been preparing by looking over lake maps and gathering information online. We also will be heading down to Beaver Lake to scout things out over spring break.

Nicholas Schuetz: It feels great to have the opportunity and it’s a privilege to be able to be qualified to fish at this level. These teams that are here are some of the best in the world at fishing and I’m proud to be included in this category.

I have been preparing just as I’m sure everyone else has – with maps, the internet, and inquiring about local knowledge of Beaver Lake. The team that wins this tournament moves on to the Forrest Wood Cup … enough said.

CollegeFishing.com: Tell us something interesting about yourself that most people wouldn’t know.

Elliott Myers: I was a part of the bowling team my freshman year at Purdue and we made it to Nationals. Then I gave it up and devoted all my time to fishing.

Nicholas Schuetz: I’m always in a hurry, but seemingly never go anywhere.
