As of today, registration is open for all the events in the 2022 Abu Garcia College Fishing Presented by YETI season. With a full slate of events from California to Florida, each conference is loaded with good tournaments. Plus, as in years past, teams can choose to fish out of conference as well.
This year presents several big opportunities for college teams. Most importantly, a chance to qualify for the 2023 Abu Garcia College Fishing Presented by YETI National Championship. The Top 10 teams from each qualifying event and the Top 20 from the College Fishing Open make it (or more depending on the field size). You don’t want to miss the championship. Not only does the winning team take home a $33,500 Phoenix 518 Pro with 115 HP Mercury, but the top two teams head to the 2022 Toyota Series Championship as pros and the third-place team qualifies for the crown jewel of triple-A fishing as co-anglers.
With a boat up for grabs for the winning team, the College Open on Lake Chickamauga is also a big hitter. Remember, the Top 20 teams (or more depending on field size) qualify for the championship.
From a yearlong perspective, the Tackle Warehouse School of the Year Presented by QuikTrip goes to the top school in conference and Open competition. With $10,000 up for grabs, MLF’s School of the Year award is the richest in collegiate fishing. Recently, East Texas Baptist University and the University of Montevallo have taken home the crown. But in 2022, is anyone’s ballgame.
Additionally, the 2022 season will once again feature the ability to qualify for the MLF College Faceoffs presented by Wiley X, held in conjunction with select Abu Garcia College Fishing tournaments. The College Faceoff events present an exciting chance to fish in a small field and compete using the catch, weigh, immediate-release format.
You can enter online or by calling 270-252-1000. The entry fee is $75 per team, per tournament for teams entering prior to onsite check-in. The onsite entry fee is $100 per team.
