EUFAULA, Ala. – From the minute the Bass Pro Tour kicked off the 2020 season at the B&W Trailer Hitches Stage One Presented by Power-Pole on Lake Eufaula, Alabama, Toyota pro Jacob Wheeler had to be viewed as a threat to win.
Not only because of Wheeler’s astounding success in the MLF format, but because the conditions that week in Alabama – rainy, changeable and unpredictable – suited the diverse Tennessee pro to a “T”.
And boy, did Wheeler deliver: He won his Qualifying Round by a scant 8 ounces to earn an automatic berth in the finals, but then stomped on the gas in the final hour of the Championship Round to turn a slim lead into a 27-plus-pound victory.
