CONROE, Texas – It’s now down to the final period for 20 anglers. The third period of Elimination Round 2 of the Huk Bass Pro Tour Stage Two presented by Favorite Fishing just began, and here are the names to pay attention to: Zack Birge, James Watson, Takahiro Omori, Michael Neal, Mike McClelland and Jacob Wheeler.

Birge currently holds the coveted Elimination Line 20th spot, but the other five anglers are within 4 pounds of the Oklahoma pro. And with temperatures creeping into the upper 70s, we’re all still waiting for the arrival of more of those Texas toads to totally shake up the standings.

12:20 p.m. CT – As noted earlier on the blog, Justin Lucas and Edwin Evers are still the day’s biggest upward movers. There are also a few who are (so far) moving in the wrong direction: Jared Lintner and Randall Tharp have identical weights today (4-1) , and both have dropped closer to the Elimination Line (Lintner is 13th, Tharp is 15th).

But the most notable drop is by Takahiro Omori: He started the day in 12th, and is currently out of the Top 20, in 22nd.

11:30 a.m. CT – Brett Hite has jumped into 20th place ahead of Takahiro Omori. Only 2 ounces separate the two anglers. James Elam now has the biggest fish on the day weighing in at 6 pounds. That bass was able to shoot Elam up the SCORETRACKER to 26th place and only 3-9 away from the Elimination Line.

10:39 a.m. CT – In case you missed it, Zack Birge is a really good guy. He’s currently sitting in 18th place, just above the Elimination Line. Still, the MLF pro took time out of his round to help out a stranded boater stuck in the middle of Lake Conroe. Birge towed the boater to his nearby home and continued fishing.

“I would feel bad if I was there and someone didn’t tow me in,” Birge said.

10:33 a.m. CT – Jordan Lee continues to stay hot on top of the SCORETRACKER, now 7-15 up on Andy Montgomery. Takahiro Omori owns the final spot in the Top 20 but is tied with Jacob Wheeler. However, because Omori has more scoreable bass than Wheeler (Omori has nine to Wheeler’s 8) and therefore owns the tiebreaker. Michael Neal, Brett Hite, Mike McClelland and Randy Howell are all within 2 pounds of Omori as well.

9:12 a.m. CT – The biggest movers of the day so far are Edwin Evers and Justin Lucas. Evers began the morning in 19th place and flirting with the Elimination Line, and has since jumped up to 11th. As for Lucas, he finished 28th in the Shotgun Round but came to play today. He has 8 pounds, 9 ounces on the day including a 5-3 fish that has him above the Elimination Line in 19th.
