These unprecedented times during the COVID-19 pandemic call for unprecedented measures. It has been discussed on every news station for the past few weeks that our first responders are lacking the protective equipment they need to remain safe and healthy while helping those infected. Covercraft is stepping up to the plate to help that cause in a big way.

Covercraft announced on Tuesday that they are lending their manufacturing and engineering expertise to quickly expand the production of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The PPE will consist of mostly gowns and masks given out to first responders and those on the front lines fighting this pandemic.

Covercraft’s expertise in working with non-woven specialty fabrics has allowed them to pivot their operations in the United States to manufacturing PPE incredibly fast. Covercraft Director of Marketing, Jeff Jegelewicz, says that the company had already been in discussions about producing PPE a few weeks before they were contacted by leaders in the state of Oklahoma.

“Local Emergency Management groups asked us if we would be able to manufacture PPE and we quickly accepted,” Jegelewicz said. “Because we are using our resources to make PPE, we were able to bring some of our employees back to work. We may have to increase our production because orders keep coming in.”

MLF pro Bradley Roy was able to visit the Covercraft manufacturing center in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma before Stage Three. After meeting the hard-working people at that manufacturing center, he could tell that these were the kind of people who would help out when called upon.

“I was not at all surprised when I heard that Covercraft was doing that,” Roy said. “They are all great people that work there. We’re in tough times where a lot of people are out of work, so it’s good to hear that Covercraft employees are still working and helping out the best way they can. They have a lot of sewing machines and a lot of material, so it makes perfect sense for them to help in the production of PPE.”

We are in the midst of something we haven’t seen in our lifetimes, and it’s going to take everyone doing their part to help rid the world of this virus. Jegelewicz says that he’s just happy to be part of a company that is willing to do their part.

“We have a family atmosphere here at Covercraft,” Jegelewicz explained. “When there is something like this pandemic that allows us to help the community in any way we can, we’re happy to do so. It’s important for us to offer our services when we can.”
