MINNEAPOLIS – This week’s “FLW Outdoors” television show will examine Buford, Ga., native Pat Fisher’s final day on the water – a day that was capped with a championship check – during the Wal-Mart FLW Tour’s first stop in 2003. The four-day tournament, presented by EverStart Batteries, was held on Florida’s Lake Okeechobee.

Saturday’s program, airing from 7 to 8 p.m. EST on the Outdoor Life Network, features angling idol and “FLW Outdoors” co-host Larry Nixon. Nixon will analyze Fisher’s day on the water to find out how a sudden change in fishing locations helped him land nearly 22 pounds of bass and the tour’s $100,000 first prize. Additionally, “FLW Outdoors” co-hosts Carlton Wing and Taylor Carr will be joined by fishing pros Dan Morehead of Paducah, Ky., and Andy Morgan of Dayton, Tenn., during the program.

Nixon will focus on how these top anglers adapted to the unseasonable cold front that dropped Florida temperatures into the low 30s, with winds gusting as high as 30 mph. His in-depth questions will bring to light the tactics used to catch Okeechobee’s bass that gathered under dense, floating mats of vegetation.

The show will also look back at Yamaha pro Jay Yelas’ run for the 2002 Land O’Lakes Angler-of-the-Year title and recap the FLW Tour Championship showdown between Team Snickers’ John Sappington of Wyandotte, Okla., and Gerald Swindle of Hayden, Ala.

OLN broadcasts “FLW Outdoors” every Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. EST and again Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. EST. Check local listings for show times and channels in your area.

Prior to each FLW Tour event, “FLW Outdoors” co-host Hank Parker will get the inside story from top tour anglers who will give viewers a unique look at the patterns and techniques that are likely to produce winning results. Wing and Carr will go on location to provide on-the-water coverage during each “FLW Outdoors” tournament show, which will be tape-delayed by exactly one week throughout the season to bring the best footage possible to audiences nationwide. FLW Tour weigh-ins will, however, be broadcast live at Wal-Mart stores throughout the country. Following each FLW Tour event, Nixon and the “FLW Outdoors” team will provide a tournament recap with detailed on-the-water analysis of winning strategies and tactics.
