FLW South Africa recently included a new facet to its monthly Cast-for-Cash tournament trail to include small-craft anglers fishing from float tubes, kick boats and kayaks. In February, the FLW partner organization received 250 tournament entries as a result of the change, and it expects further increases in participation in the coming months as directors expand into new regions of the country.
Here’s a rundown of recent news and events from FLW South Africa:
FLW South Africa visited Limpopo at Injaka Dam near Hazyview for its latest tournament. Just like in 2017, heavy rains fell, but that didn’t keep the participants away. The tournament was held over two days with the winning bag caught on day one in the late afternoon.
Andy Kyriacoudes and Riaan Bam of Team Exterminator were the champs. They fished in 25 feet of water, targeting brush piles on ledges with Texas-rigged Damiki Mr. Jumbo grubs.
The prize ceremony on Sunday was well-attended, and sponsors such as BB Group (auto dealer) and Filter Man (air filter supplier) from Polokwane provided extra lucky-draw prizes. Apart from the promotional giveaways, Gani’s Angling World (tackle retailer) also provided very handy duffel bags to two FLW members.
The winning Cast-for-Cash teams for each region in February were as follows:
