HENDERSON, N.C. – The finals have begun in EverStart Series Northeast Division competition at Kerr Lake, and the top 10 pros and co-anglers remaining have no choice but to head back out into the North Carolina rain for their shot at big cash and prizes.

Some anglers hoped the soggy conditions seen here the last couple of days would abate by the final round, but apparently that’s not in the cards today. The forecast is calling for more persistent rain throughout the morning degenerating into thunderstorms by afternoon. The wind that accompanied the weather fronts yesterday seemed to slow down the topwater bite here at Kerr Thursday, and Friday is looking eerily similar to that.

Despite the conditions, pro Craig Powers stayed hot and led the opening round with almost 35 pounds of bass the first two days. Everybody restarted the day with zero weight, so expect the pros to try and hook into about 15 pounds of fish Friday, give or take, to assume the lead.

Everybody’s fishing for best two-day weight Friday and Saturday to determine the pro and co-angler winners of this event.

Day-three weigh-in festivities begin at 4 p.m. Eastern time at the Wal-Mart store located at 200 North Cooper Road in Henderson.

Friday’s conditions:

Sunrise: 5:57 a.m.

Temperature at takeoff: 61 degrees

Expected high temperature: 72 degrees

Wind: from N at 5 mph

Maximum humidity: 85 percent

Day’s outlook: thundershowers
