GALLERY: Team Builders FirstSource secures spot in Championship Round at Bass Pro Shops Championship

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – There was a lot on the line when three teams of MLF pros arrived at the Clermont Boat Ramp for the second day and final day of Match 1 at the General Tire Team Series Bass Pro Shops Championship Presented by B&W Trailer Hitches. The pros knew this was their final chance to earn a spot in the one-day Championship Round shootout where they’d have a shot at a $300,000 payday.

Team Builders FirstSource, comprised of Jeff Sprague, Randall Tharp and Cliff Crochet, started the day in the driver’s seat, with a team total of 42 pounds, 10 ounces. They didn’t let off the gas all day, turning a 12-pound lead over second-place Team Star brite (Skeet Reese, Shaw Grigsby and Jeremy Lawyer) into a 32-pound lead by the end of the Match. Team Builders FirstSource ended up with a two-day total of 104-2, while Team Star brite totaled 71-14 and in third place, Team Ferguson (Brent Chapman, Jonathon VanDam and James Elam), tallied 53-3.

Now, one of three spots in the Championship Round is claimed. There are still two more two-day matches left in the Bass Pro Shops Championship. Three teams of three MLF pros will compete in each Match to determine who else will advance to the final round.
