BOLIVAR, Mo. – Southwest Missouri’s Stockton Lake put the MLF pros to the test all week during the Costa Qualifier Presented by Toyota. Quality bites were few and far between during this fall competition, and the anglers caught plenty of crappie and white bass as opposed to scorable fish. Plus, on the final day of the Costa Qualifier, the pros competing in Match 3 had to face local pressure as well, with several local tournaments sharing the playing field.
Team Star brite, composed of captain Skeet Reese, Shaw Grigsby and Jeremy Lawyer, won the two-day match to earn a spot in the General Tire Team Series Championship, which takes place in Florida and will air later this season. The team did most of its damage on crankbaits, staying close to the bank and covering as much water as possible while fishing the west half of Stockton Lake. At the end of the match, Team Star brite racked up 104 pounds, 3 ounces of bass to beat out second-place Team Builders FirstSource (Gerald Spohrer, Dakota Ebare and Jim Tutt) by more than 20 pounds.
New episodes of the General Tire Team Series will continue to air on Outdoor Channel on Saturdays from 2-4 p.m. ET. You can watch the Team Series on demand on MyOutdoorTV, new episodes are added every Monday afternoon. Now that the Costa Qualifier has concluded, the Builders FirstSource Qualifier Presented by Berkley from College Station, Texas will air next.
