The 2014 season contained a number of superlative moments, but only a few that neatly fit into a few seconds of looping soundless action. Below, you’ll find a definitive ranking of our favorite GIFs of 2014.

7 – The 2014 Walmart Bass Fishing League All-American was mostly remarkable because of how thoroughly Marcus Sykora dominated a stacked field. Though he never really had a chance, Jayme Rampey mounted a furious charge on the final day and produced a number of intense fish catches, including this one. The net job by Ethan Flack was particularly sweet.

6 – Having iON cameras on so many boats proved to be a massive boon, as they captured countless little moments and intense fish catches. They also provided a very candid look at co-angler and pro interaction, highlighted here by Steve Mui and Kevin Carter. The fist pump/jump could have stood on its own, but the soft-and-slow chest bump (to stay in the boat and protect the rod) absolutely makes this.

5 – Beaver Lake kicked out some tremendous fish catches this year, the best of which can be seen here, but Troy Morrow’s fail topped the list for GIF purposes. Accidentally dropping the net has never worked out so well.

4 – You can’t find any list related to FLW without seeing Andy Morgan near the top, and this one is no different. Everybody loves a jig fish, and this is the best of the season. Morgan hammers it, the fish is big and the fight is fast. Just perfect. In the full video, you get a classic Morgan quote, and he gives the fish the “Christie Slap” before putting her in the livewell.

3 – I could have made this entire list out of Steve Kennedy GIFs and it would still hold up. This one is the best of the bunch, and it happened during the Forrest Wood Cup. Kennedy was about to pick his Zoom Horny Toad up for another cast, and managed to connect on one of the most exciting strikes of the season.

2 – Scott Canterbury had a superlative Forrest Wood Cup and almost snatched the win away from Lake Murray’s hometown boy. If he’d boated this fish, he would have surely won. With $500,000 on the line, we got one of the most heartbreaking and emotional reactions of all time.

1 – Greg Bohannan’s fish catch is one for the ages. It’s a stud, it hit close to the boat, the camera got the full shot and his reaction is priceless. This GIF could sell anyone in the world on fishing.
