OKEECHOBEE, Fla. – We saw Jacob Wheeler become the first angler to win two Bass Pro Tour Stages at Stage One on Lake Eufaula. Just a couple of weeks later, another Jacob–Jacob Powroznik–became the second pro to win two stages.
While his final weight was more than 11 pounds over the second-place finisher Michael Neal, Powroznik had to fight off stiff competition from Neal, Wheeler and Randall Tharp alike to secure a victory on Lake Okeechobee during Bass Pro Tour Favorite Fishing Stage Two Presented by Bass Cat. Powroznik tallied nearly 30 pounds of bass in Period 3 to secure the Stage Two trophy.
It was an important win for Powroznik not just because of the field he was up against or the prize, but because of the memories he cherishes on the Big O. The Lowrance pro fished on Lake Okeechobee with his father one final time before he passed away in 2015. Powroznik was overcome with emotion following the trophy presentation and mentioned how happy he was that he got the job done on a lake that was so special to him and his father.
Here’s a look back on Powroznik’s Stage Two championship performance.
