Fresh off of another great REDCREST, the anglers had a short break before practice started at U.S. Air Force Stage Two Presented by Power-Pole in Tennessee on Wednesday. It’s a quick turnaround for them and for us fantasy managers, so we’ll jump right into picking our teams for Douglas and Cherokee Lakes. For this tournament, I’m opting for some locals, those with momentum and a few who’ve fared well on the fisheries.
I’ll start this off by admitting that picking a fantasy roster for an event like REDCREST 2023 Presented by Shore Lunch can be very tricky. Let’s get that out of the way up front: setting your roster next week will not be an easy task.
Clarks Hill is perhaps my favorite event on the 2023 Tackle Warehouse Invitationals schedule, I’ve been excited to pick for it since I started to dive into the preseason process. For this event — with water temperatures likely in the 50s — I suspect a ton of patterns will be in play. I reckon there will be some old-school crankbait and spinnerbait action, plenty of ‘Scoping, finesse and brush stuff and maybe even a fun swimbait or two.
We’re within a week of the start of a new Bass Pro Tour season, and all 80 anglers on the 2023 roster have a blank slate and a full schedule of events in front of them. The same can be said for all of the Phoenix Boats Fantasy Fishing managers out there: we’re all tied at zero points and our eyes are focused on both the first individual event and season-long prizes.
I’m very much looking forward to picking my teams in Phoenix Fantasy Fishing on the Tackle Warehouse Invitationals this year. There’s obviously a great chance I’ll do poorly, but I love a local favorite, and the rosters are going to be riddled with them this year. Additionally, there are just some really fun events on the schedule – I’m fascinated by Clarks Hill in Georgia and Eufaula in Oklahoma.
