We’re in the season’s home stretch and headed north to New York’s Cayuga Lake for Favorite Fishing Stage Five Presented by ATG + Wrangler. The fishing is expected to be phenomenal and we should see some monster bags of bass placed on SCORETRACKER®. It’ll be hard for the anglers to separate themselves in these slugfest-type events, making it just as tricky for fantasy managers.
This is my first time writing a preview for Phoenix Fantasy Fishing for the Tackle Warehouse Invitationals, but the editors at Major League Fishing asked me to give some tips based on my success so far this year.
Folks picking Phoenix Fantasy Fishing teams for Epic Baits Stop 3 at Lake Eufaula Presented by B&W Trailer Hitches don’t have a lot to go on. For starters, the season is a little young to fully believe that any of the newer, or nonstandard anglers inside the Top 10 in points are on a must-pick heater. To go with the early season uncertainly, the lake is a virtual unknown at a national level, and Grand Lake far outstrips it as the most commonly fished tournament lake in Oklahoma. So, basically everyone is taking some gambles in this one, either betting on locals with limited national history, or trying to sift through a mix of the current standings and what you think the actual talent levels are.
Fresh off of another great REDCREST, the anglers had a short break before practice started at U.S. Air Force Stage Two Presented by Power-Pole in Tennessee on Wednesday. It’s a quick turnaround for them and for us fantasy managers, so we’ll jump right into picking our teams for Douglas and Cherokee Lakes. For this tournament, I’m opting for some locals, those with momentum and a few who’ve fared well on the fisheries.
I’ll start this off by admitting that picking a fantasy roster for an event like REDCREST 2023 Presented by Shore Lunch can be very tricky. Let’s get that out of the way up front: setting your roster next week will not be an easy task.
