So, I know I’ve been slacking on the blogs. I apologize. Between getting used to married life and the ice storms that knocked out power to all of western Kentucky blogging kind of slipped my mind for a bit. But I’m back (for real this time) and ready to show off another lure. And I have a good one.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Bomber’s new Switchback Shad.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: My mind must still be thawing because that lure in the photo is obviously a Fat Free Shad. And if it didn’t say “Switchback” on the side I’d probably agree with you. But that little lure is in new. And for lovers of the original Fat Free Shad, the new version has a few tricks in its design.
Let’s start with why it’s called the Switchback. Inside this familiar-looking lure is a rattle system like no other. Why? Because the angler can turn the rattle on and off. No joke. By moving the lure in a certain way, the angler can either engage the single rattle for more noise in low clarity conditions or disengage it for a subtle approach to clear water. If nothing else, it’s fun just moving the lure around to engage/disengage the rattle. It’s like one of those puzzles you get as a kid.
The other thing of note with this lure is the lip. A lot of pros used to shave down the lips on the original lure so it had a tighter wobble. The Switchback already has that done for you. The result is a lure with laser-accurate tracking and a wiggle that more resembles the real deal. Plus, it’s a Bomber Fat Free Shad look-alike, so anglers know fish will love it.
