All anglers fishing Maryland waters must be prepared to present a valid drivers license or some sort of picture ID along with fishing license. Anglers who are fishing tidal freshwater in Potomac River for the MLF5 tournament may purchase a Chesapeake Bay & Coastal Sport Fishing License (non-residents, $12 for 7 day and $22.50 for all year; residents, $6 for 7 day and $15 all year). Anglers who purchase this license will be able to fish Maryland's tidal freshwater, Virginia's tidal freshwater, as well as waters managed by Potomac River Fisheries Commission. Anglers who want to fish D.C. waters for bass, must purchase a fishing license from D.C. D.C. Waters: A U.S. Coast Guard state boating course and D.C. license is required when fishing D.C. waters. Saltwater Registry: Federal Law requires all anglers who fish in tidal waters including the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries to register with the National Saltwater Angler Registry.
