TULSA, Okla. (Feb. 22, 2019) – Mustad, a worldwide leader in fish hooks, is the newest addition to the Major League Fishing® (MLF) Bass Pro Tour sponsor lineup.

The popular hook brand got its start in Norway in the mid-1800s when the Mustad factory turned its wire and nail-making expertise to also manufacturing quality fishing hooks. Today, one in four hooks in the world is made by Mustad and the company’s diverse product offering has grown to address every discipline of sport fishing, including bass.

“Mustad is dedicated to producing best-in-class terminal tackle for the bass market, helping land more fish for both professional and recreational anglers alike,” said Jordan Davis, President, O. Mustad & Son Americas. “We’re also committed to the growth of the sport and are thrilled to continue support of our pro staff by partnering with Major League Fishing as a sponsor of the inaugural Bass Pro Tour.”

Jim Wilburn, MLF President and CEO, said, “You don’t need to use ‘hooks’ in the descriptive when you say Mustad because the name is one of the most recognizable in all of fishing and anglers everywhere know what this company makes. They’ve done an amazing job of staying on the front-end of bass anglers’ ever-evolving needs in fish hook innovation, with a lot of that insight coming from some of their pros who are fishing our Bass Pro Tour. We’re pleased to welcome Mustad aboard in 2019.”

Mustad proudly sponsors and supports a number of pro staffers around the world with each bringing something unique to the table, whether it’s the locations they fish, the species they pursue or their particular techniques of expertise. Mustad pros fishing the 2019 Bass Pro Tour are Kevin VanDam, Mark Rose and Cliff Pace.

The Bass Pro Tour is a premier 80-angler, eight-event series that culminates with a championship at season’s end. MLF’s made-for-television format has proven to be appealing to viewers of all ages, which reinforces one of the primary goals of the league’s founders: grow the interest and participation in fishing by exposing the sport in a highly entertaining manner to a broad national audience across the United States.

The Mustad sponsorship provides brand presence throughout Bass Pro Tour promotional opportunities, including on the MLF NOW! live-stream program that delivers seven hours of real-time coverage during each competition day.

Every Bass Pro Tour stop will also be developed into a two-hour television show to air on Discovery Channel in the fourth quarter of 2019, and then repeat on Sportsman Channel in first and second quarters 2020.

About Major League Fishing

Developed through a joint effort between Outdoor Channel and the PBT anglers in 2011, Major League Fishing brings the high-intensity sport of competitive bass fishing into America’s living rooms in the form of riveting two-hour TV episodes. World-class anglers are filmed over the course of a six-day event. The show captures their efforts as they utilize a demanding format that allows them to weigh all the “scorable bass” they catch. Unlike other competitive fishing events, live leaderboards in the boats allow anglers to know their standings at all times. For more information about the game, visit and follow Major League Fishing on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. You can catch all current and past episodes of Major League Fishing on #MyOutdoorTV, the world’s leading outdoor television global, streaming service provider.
