Shawn York got off to a strong start by leading day one of the Costa FLW Series Southeastern Division event presented by T-H Marine on Lake Seminole, but when changing conditions threatened his productivity, the Florida co-angler maintained his composure and made the adjustments necessary to close the deal with a two-day total of 28 pounds, 11 ounces. Weighing 16-1 on day one and 12-10 on day two, York took home a new Ranger boat and $2,100 for his efforts.

Winning pro pattern

“We had high pressure after the cold front, the temperatures got down last night, the water temperature dropped,” York says. “I kind of did what I did yesterday, I just had to go a little slower.”

On day one, York slowly dragged a 6-inch watermelon Yamamoto Senko unweighted and Texas rigged. That bait produced a keeper today, but York salvaged a lethargic day by switching to smokin’ shad colored Strike King Magnum Caffeine Shad.

"We fished deeper water from 5-8 feet, so I let the bait sink to the bottom, I gave it some aggressive jerks and killed it,” he says. “I’d let it drop until my line quit moving, then I’d give it three or four aggressive jerks. I couldn’t get my fifth fish, but I’m happy with what I got.”
