Our crew on the water hasn’t had very good luck tracking the top pros down in the Toyota Series Southwestern Division event on Sam Rayburn, but the fishing has still been pretty good. With the entire top 10 within striking distance, it’s still anyone’s game, and the good fishing today could help someone run into a mega-bag.

Blake Schroeder’s leading pattern

On the weather front, it’s warm and cloudy, with a fairly strong southeast wind pushing waves up the lake. It’s not a good wind for fishing or navigating in, and it’s put a bit of a cramp on running around.

Starting out in first place, Blake Schroeder put together a limit in short order. Cranking around grass, he had 13 pounds or so when we left him before 9 a.m.

In second, Aaron Johnson had perhaps 17 pounds or better around 12:30.

Unfortunately, Nick LeBrun and Chris McCall have been unreachable, but we have hit fifth-place pro Stephen Johnston. Fishing offshore, in pretty rough conditions, Johnston is having an interesting day – he’s got just two fish, but one is a 7-pounder and one is a 5-pounder.

Suffice to say, weigh-in is going to be super interesting. There are enough unknowns that about anything could happen, and the fish seem to be cooperating well today. So, make sure to tune in online at 3:30 p.m. CT today – it’s gonna be an exciting weigh-in.
