Take a look back at one of the most memorable big-bass stories of 2021: The day Jeff Sprague earned $100,000 by landing a single fish. By the time the third period rolled around in the Championship Round of General Tire Heavy Hitters Presented by Bass Pro Shops, Alton Jones had a sizable lead over the rest of the anglers on Shearon Harris Reservoir. But with a $100,000 big bass bonus, there was still a chance for any o the MLF pros on the lake to earn a six-figure check at this event.

With a couple of hours left in the competition, Sprague landed a 5-pond, 3-ounce largemouth on a Strike King Ocho and took over as the big-bass leader, beating Jones’ 5-pounder by just a few ounces. While Sprague admits that he expected the Shearon Harris big bass to be considerably larger than a 5-3, he’ll gladly accept the trophy and prize money that comes along with it.
