CHARLOTTE, N.C. – While he may be known as “Little Alton” to some, there’s nothing little about Alton Jones Jr.’s morning during Knockout Round 1 at Bass Pro Shops REDCREST Presented by Shore Lunch. Shortly after 9 a.m., the Texas angler scored a 5-pound, 7-ounce spotted bass along the docks, dwarfing anything the other 19 pros had caught so far on Friday.

Thanks to the new format this year, Jones’ 5-7 will contribute greatly in the race for the title and $300,000 grand prize as today’s weights carry into Knockout Round 2 and the Championship Round.
