CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In sports betting, the term “chalk” refers to a significant favorite. After four days of fishing on Lake Norman and one day left to determine the winner of Bass Pro Shops REDCREST Presented by Shore Lunch, Bryan Thrift is about as chalk as it gets.

Thrift, a North Carolina native who cut his bass-fishing teeth on Norman, backed up his 17-pound day in Friday’s Knockout Round with 15 pounds, 6 ounces on Saturday to push his two-day total to 33-2. He’ll carry a 1-9 lead into Championship Sunday on his home lake over Alton Jones Jr. (31-9).

Check back soon for full coverage.
