BAY CITY, Mich. – The odds weren’t exactly in Matt Becker’s favor at the start of the Championship Round of Minn Kota Stage Seven Presented by Suzuki. But, by lines out he’d climbed to the top of SCORETRACKER® to win the final Bass Pro Tour event of the 2023 season with 10 bass weighing 40 pounds, 9 ounces. In addition to his Saginaw Bay win, things lined up just right for him to also win the Bally Bet Angler of the Year.
Surrounded by family, friends, fans, and fellow competitors, Becker claimed his first Bass Pro Tour trophy, first Angler of the Year trophy and the $200,000 check to go with them. Scoring both major accomplishments as the grand finale to his rookie year made this an exceptionally special moment, so he shared his thoughts during the Post Game show.
