CONROE, Texas – The Bass Pro Tour’s every-fish-counts scoring has always made for big swings on SCORETRACKER®. Rarely, though, have we seen a heater like Justin Cooper’s first period on Friday at B&W Trailer Hitches Stage 1 Presented by Power-Pole on Lake Conroe.
Like much of the field, Cooper opted to use his forward-facing sonar period in Period 1. He used it to find a hungry school of bass chasing bait and commenced to catching them in a hurry. Cooper, who caught just 13 scorable bass totaling 27 pounds, 9 ounces on Day 1, stacked 29 bass on SCORETRACKER® that weighed a combined 72-4 during the first period alone. That marked the best single period a Bass Pro Tour angler has put together since at least 2021 and rocketed him from 33rd place at the start of the day into the lead. He finished the period in third place, well inside the Elimination Line.
