As a part-time guide in Arizona, Smokey Mountain pro Josh Bertrand has helped plenty of new anglers get over the intimidation of learning how to flip and pitch. It’s a must-learn technique that takes some practice, but in this beginner’s Major League Lesson, Bertrand runs through the basics that will help rookie flippers/pitchers master it in no time: setting the reel’s brakes correctly, using the right weight and learning the basic motions of a soft, low-trajectory fip or pitch.
