Jordan Lee just capped off an impressive year on the Bass Pro Tour. A Heavy Hitters win and Points Championship are no easy feats to accomplish in bass fishing. But when you take a look at how he got it done, it becomes even more impressive.

Lee’s Fish by the Numbers

This season on the Bass Pro Tour through all five events, Jordan Lee brought in a total of 201 bass for 663 pounds. Those two numbers are the most out of the 80-angler field. On average, Lee’s average scorable bass weighed in a little more than 3 pounds, 4 ounces, easily putting him near the top of the field in that category as well.

Lee had single rounds where he totaled 94-0, 83-8, 79-7, and 71-12. He also caught 24, 27, 31, and 34 bass in each round during Stage Five. His biggest bass of the year was an 8-14 largemouth he caught during Heavy Hitters. The next day of Heavy Hitters he landed a 7-4 for the biggest fish of the day, winning $100,000 on top of his $100,000 Heavy Hitters Championship check.

Even when he struggled this year, he quickly made up for his miscues. During Stage Two on Lake Okeechobee, the Alabama pro was sitting in dead last after zeroing on his first day of competition. On his second day, he went out and caught eight bass for 32-10, enough weight to win his Qualifying Round and advance straight to the Championship Round.

No One Made More Cuts

In this abbreviated season of the Bass Pro Tour, as an angler, you needed to make every event count if you wanted a chance at a Points Championship. There was little room for mistakes, and with Lee performing the way he did all year long, there was even less room for error for the rest of the pros.

In every Knockout Round, Jordan Lee was competing. He was one of six pros to qualify for every Knockout Round in 2020. However, once he got through the cut of 40 anglers, he consistently made the Championship Round as well. Four total Championship Round appearances for Lee, the most in the field.

The one time Lee missed a Championship Round, he finished the event in 31st place. The Abu Garcia pro’s average finish through five events was 10th place. Take away that 31st-place finish, and his average finish was fifth.

Who He Beat to Get Here

Lee finished seventh in points in 2019 after winning Stage One. He is one of five anglers to finish the season in the Top 10 in points in both seasons of the Bass Pro Tour along with Jeff Sprague, Jacob Wheeler, Dustin Connell and Mark Rose.

Lee beat Ott DeFoe by 19 points for the 2020 Points Championship, nine more points than Evers’ margin of victory over Jeff Sprague in 2019.

No one had a more impressive season than Jordan Lee in 2020. The old phrase, “You earned it,” gets thrown around a lot in sports. Every athlete works at their craft and tries to get better every day. However, to consistently get better with every single tournament and doing so while going up against the best in the world, Lee definitely earned his 2020 Points Championship.
