Wheeler Lands $50,000 Fish, Readies for Revenge on Shearon Harris

April 13, 2021 • Bass Pro Tour

After barely making the cut in the qualifying round, Jacob Wheeler is getting ready to compete in yet another MLF Championship Round. During the Knockout Round of General Tire Heavy Hitters Presented by Bass Pro Shops, Wheeler managed to catch the biggest bass of the day on Shearon Harris Reservoir: a 7-pound, 8-ounce largemouth. While he spent much of the day in the top eight, above the Toro Cut Line, he climbed to second place at the end of Period 3 and ended the round with 41-06.

Now, Wheeler says he’s confident going into the Championship Round on Shearon Harris, where he’ll have a shot at winning not only the $100,000 Heavy Hitters Title but also the largest Big Bass Bonus of the week: $100,000. When the Bass Pro Tour visited Raleigh in 2019, the Championship Round was on Shearon Harris and Wheeler came in second place. He says he’s looking forward to his shot at revenge on Shearon Harris.
