Wheeler Wins Stage Two on Lake Travis by 2 Ounces

May 5, 2021 • Bass Pro Tour

It came down to the final moments of the Championship Round on Lake Travis, but none of the other MLF pros in the Berkley Stage Two Presented by Mercury Top 10 were able to catch up to Jacob Wheeler. Bobby Lane kept things very interesting until the end, catching a 2-pounder with just three minutes left in the competition. But Lane ended up 2 ounces shy of Wheeler’s total: 28 pounds, 13 ounces.

Now, Wheeler is the first MLF pro to earn three Bass Pro Tour trophies. He won Stage Seven on Table Rock Lake in 2019 and Stage One on Lake Eufaula in 2020. We spoke to Wheeler right after his trophy presentation to find out how he caught bass on Lake Travis while much of the field struggled to figure the fish out.
