JAMESTOWN, Ky. — The 236 boats battling for the Abu Garcia High School Fishing National Championship Presented by Tackle Warehouse on Kentucky’s Lake Cumberland caught mixed bags and found mixed results on Day 1. Some struggled to find their footing on the vast fishery, while others got off to strong starts. Bobby Lane III and Bryden Tyler of the Lakeland Christian Vikings headlined the day, catching a 5-12 largemouth that won big bass honors and anchored a 12-2 limit that has them in the early lead.

But with two days of competition left in the National Championship and everyone still alive in The Bass Federation’s High School Fishing World Finals, every team still has a chance to win some of the more than $1 million in scholarships and prizes that will be given away this week.

Check out some of the sights from takeoff on Day 1 and follow the coverage throughout the week at MajorLeagueFishing.com and HighSchoolFishing.org. Weigh-in will take place at the Russell County Jaycees Fairgrounds starting at 3 p.m. CT on Thursday and 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
