ORLANDO, Fla. –Major League Fishing, the world’s largest tournament-fishing organization, announced today a collaboration with Starlink that will establish Starlink’s fast, reliable internet as MLF’s primary connectivity solution across its national event schedule.
MLF produces thousands of hours of live event coverage from lakes, rivers and reservoirs across the United States and requires reliable broadband to deliver real-time scoring, live video and tournament coverage from some of the most remote venues in professional sports. As the internet provider of Major League Fishing, Starlink will deliver high-speed connectivity and strengthen MLF’s network that support more than 150 annual events that reach thousands of anglers and millions of fans annually through livestream, television, digital and social media platforms.
Unlike traditional stadium-based sports, MLF broadcasts are produced across vast bodies of water where communications infrastructure can vary dramatically from one venue to the next. Through the world’s most advanced satellite constellation, Starlink delivers reliable broadband connectivity nationwide, including to locations where high-speed internet has traditionally been unreliable or entirely unavailable.
As part of the collaboration, Starlink will be integrated throughout MLF’s competition and broadcast ecosystem, supporting tournament operations, real-time data transmission, production workflows and live event coverage. The integration will extend across key MLF platforms and properties, including the MLFNOW! livestream, the SCORETRACKER® live leaderboard and the Starlink Team Series.
“Major League Fishing was built on innovation, and leveraging Starlink is another step forward in our commitment to pushing the sport ahead,” said Boyd Duckett, Co-Founder, President and CEO of Major League Fishing. “We’ve spent years building one of the most technologically advanced fan experiences in professional fishing through live coverage, real-time scoring and innovative broadcast formats. Starlink allows us to strengthen the infrastructure behind those innovations while continuing to deliver the highest-quality experience possible for anglers and fans across the world.”
“We’re proud to have Starlink transform the world of competitive angling by delivering reliable, high-speed connectivity to Major League Fishing. Whether its tournament anglers tracking real-time conditions, streaming live coverage to fans, or families staying connected while cheering from the shore and remote locations, Starlink enables a fully connected experience for sport fishing,” said Lauren Dreyer, Vice President of Starlink Business Operations at SpaceX.
MLF has earned a reputation as the sport’s leading innovator by challenging the traditional tournament format model through the SCORETRACKER® live leaderboard, live coverage and fan-focused broadcast formats. Starlink will help strengthen the technology behind that experience and create new opportunities for content, coverage and fan engagement across MLF’s nationwide schedule.
“The future of sports is increasingly shaped by technology, connectivity and real-time engagement,” Duckett said. “We’re proud to work with a company that shares our passion for innovation and sees the same opportunity we do to continue elevating the sport.”
