TULSA, Okla. – Major League Fishing (MLF) announces that Wiley X, makers of premium performance sunglasses, has renewed its sponsorship of the popular made-for-television bass fishing series with a new 3-year agreement.

“Wiley X came on board early after our launch of MLF and they have been an integral supporter of everything we’ve done over the past five seasons,” said MLF General Manager Jim Wilburn. “Their signing of this extended agreement serves as further proof of the brand’s leadership role in the protective eyewear category and they’ve certainly helped mold the safety precautions we have in place at MLF events.”

“Partnership is sometimes an overstated term in regards to a media buy, but our Major League Fishing relationship is special and we do feel like a true partner in everything MLF has done to grow their outreach every year since our involvement,” commented Ray Hill, Wiley X Vice President – Retail Sales. “Three-year deals aren’t the norm any more, but we continue to be impressed with MLF’s presence and relevancy in the fishing/outdoor space and what they have outlined for the future of our partnership.”

In addition to the traditional advertising exposures received, Wiley X also benefits from being the safety eyewear worn by all in-boat crew and camera operators during MLF competitions.

Wiley X was born on the battlefield more than 30 years ago by developing purpose built eye protection for the U.S. Armed Forces and elite military special units.

The resulting Wiley X shatterproof Selenite™ polycarbonate lenses and Triloid™ frames comply with the strictest ANSI Z87.1 high velocity and high mass impact standards as well as demanding optical clarity standards, with many meeting the military’s ballistic VO impact standards. Couple this level of protection with high-end optics and Wiley X’s Filter 8™ Polarized lenses for super-clear vision for high-performance angling.

“Our staff and anglers are proud and confident wearing Wiley X sunglasses with technology proven in the military environment and ideal for fishing applications,” said MLF Commissioner Don Rucks. “We’re all pleased to have a company of Wiley X’s caliber on the MLF team and helping shape our future.”

About Major League Fishing

Developed through a joint effort between Outdoor Channel and two-dozen premier bass fishing anglers in 2011, Major League Fishing brings the high-intensity sport of competitive bass fishing into America’s living rooms in the form of riveting two-hour TV episodes. World-class anglers are filmed over the course of a six-day event. The show captures their efforts as they utilize a demanding format that allows them to weigh all the “scorable bass” they catch. Unlike other competitive fishing events, live leaderboards in the boats allow anglers to know their standings at all times.

About Wiley X

Celebrating its 30th year in 2017, Wiley X has a well-earned reputation for advanced eyewear protection. All adult models meet ANSI Z87.1 High Velocity and High Mass Impact safety standards, and many models also meet the military’s stringent Ballistic VO impact certification. Almost all Wiley X eyewear styles are also Rx-ready using the company’s advanced DIGIFORCE™ digital RX lens technology that ensures superior prescription accuracy and optical clarity over the widest possible field of vision.
