The art of punching mats is a technique that all bass anglers should learn. Whether you live near the California Delta, in Florida, or basically anywhere in the country where bass live in thick vegetation, learning to effectively punch is a great investment in your time.
Some of you may have watched fellow MLF pro Cliff Crochet and I fishing in a head-to-head challenge at Grosse Savanne Lodge in Southern Louisiana. While we were out there, Maggie and I shot a little Q&A/tutorial on how to punch mats. I talked about everything from baits to rods and reels – everything you’ll need to know to be a better puncher.
