LA CROSSE, Wis. – If there was a defining moment from this season on the Bass Pro Tour, it came on Sunday afternoon during the Championship Round of REDCREST Presented by Venmo. Edwin Evers capped off a historic season with yet another trophy—his third of the season—with a 44-pound, 15-ounce victory over second-place Greg Hackney. That’s an impressive margin of victory, but it becomes even more impressive when you look at the numbers of just how the Oklahoma pro did it.

That’s how many minutes it took for Evers to lock up the inaugural REDCREST championship. With Greg Hackney within striking distance, Evers pulled up to a spot he fished in the morning that got him out to a sizable lead after the first period. The epic run began at 1:43 p.m. CDT.

The amount of fish Evers was able to reel in the boat in 22 minutes. Yes, you read that correctly. The Bass Pro Shops pro averaged more than one fish weighed in per minute during his incredible stretch. For those of you wanting the exact number, that is a fish caught, weighed and released every 57 seconds for 22 minutes.

The total weight of his 23 bass caught during those 22 minutes. His heaviest bass was a 2-2 largemouth at 1:56 p.m. (his second fish of that minute) and his lightest was a 1-1 largemouth to end the run at 2:05 p.m.

Evers had a streak of 16 straight casts where he caught a scoreable bass. The Berkley pro had caught fish on back-to-back casts before being assessed a penalty for a fish-landing violation. After the penalty, that’s when Evers went on the run of 16 straight.

The number of scoreable bass caught by the other nine anglers competing in the Championship Round during the 22-minute span of Evers’ incredible run. For every bass that the other nine anglers caught from 1:43 p.m. to 2:05 p.m., Evers caught more than three.

Congratulations to Edwin Evers on an impressive season and an equally impressive Championship Round performance.
