CULLMAN, Ala. – Heading into the Favorite Fishing Stage Three Presented by Mercury on Lewis Smith Lake, Alabama pro Dustin Connell was on almost everybody’s “must watch” list of favorites to win. For good reason: Connell is one of the most adept spotted-bass anglers in the country, fishing one one of the most prolific spotted-bass lakes in the South.
The Favorite Fishing pro lived up to expectations. Catapulted by a 17-fish first period that accounted for 36 pounds, 7 ounces, Connell grabbed the Stage Three trophy and $100,000 first-place check with 33 fish for 71 pounds, 2 ounces. Jordan Lee finished second with 56-1.
“These are the days we dream about, and to do it on the final day? Unbelievable,” Connell said.
