UNION SPRINGS, N.Y. – Nobody could catch Adrian Avena during yesterday’s Knockout Round of Favorite Fishing Stage Five Presented by ATG by Wrangler on Cayuga Lake as he caught five bass weighing 29 pounds, 6 ounces. The New Jersey pro lost his 2-ounce lead due to a slow start in the morning run of the Championship Round, but quickly reclaimed the top spot on SCORETRACKER® as the afternoon went on.
Avena changed his approach a bit from yesterday to today. During the Knockout Round, he was offshore fishing with a soft plastic drop shot and focusing on the upper section of the main lake and made most of his catches during the morning hours. Today, he’s bed fishing with a focus on the midsection of the lake; but the results are the same – two 6-pound smallmouth and some 5-pounders for the lead.
