Getting out to an early lead, Jacob Wheeler essentially won the title in the first period with 35 pounds, 11 ounces on 14 scorable bass. He went on to gradually pad his margin as the day progressed, ultimately claiming the title, trophy and $300,000 grand prize that comes with it by catching 51-11 on 21 scorable bass. It wouldn’t be until near the end of Period 3 that Takahiro Omori would get on a hot streak and surpass that total with 38-8 on 15 scorable bass.
