More than two years ago, Major League Fishing created the Century Club to recognize and show its appreciation for every angler who has fished 100 or more tournaments with MLF and its predecessors. Building on that gratitude for all the anglers who have supported the organization through the decades, MLF rolled out the Top 10 Club this year to shine a spotlight on anglers with 10 or more Top 10s.
The list of Top 10 Club anglers is extensive – more than 1,900 to date between boaters and co-anglers (and anglers with 10 or more combined Top 10s in both categories) – and each member has received or will receive a coin to commemorate their achievements. All stats referenced in this article were tabulated at the time coins were sent out, prior to June 2026.
To begin, we thought it would be appropriate to highlight the Top 10 anglers with the most Top 10s in MLF history, though the list totals 11 with a tie for the final spot. These are anglers from every level of the organization, from the Phoenix Bass Fishing League to the Bass Pro Tour, who have put themselves in contention more than anyone else.
1. Bryan Thrift (89) – Anyone who followed the FLW Tour from 2007-19 shouldn’t be surprised to see Thrift atop the list. As a pro during that span, he compiled 28 Top 10s on that circuit alone, to say nothing of his exploits in the Toyota Series and now Bass Pro Tour. Put simply: Thrift is a legend.
2. Dick Shaffer (87) – Few anglers had as prolific a BFL career as Shaffer. For more than 30 years, Shaffer was a constant in the Buckeye Division (as well as other divisions and levels of the organization, having fished both Toyota Series and FLW Tour events as well). In total: 87 Top 10s and more than half a million dollars in career winnings.
3. Chris Baldwin (78) – As of this writing, Baldwin boasted 78 Top 10s, seven wins and almost half a million dollars in winnings. Baldwin has been doing it a very long time at a very high level, primarily with a 20-year run in the BFL North Carolina division and 30 years in the Piedmont Division, among other divisions and circuits since 1997. However, Baldwin’s far from slowing down and added a 79th Top 10 to his résumé on July 18.
T4. Andy Morgan (75) – An absolute legend of the sport and face of FLW/MLF for decades, Morgan fished his way to three FLW Tour Angler of the Year titles en route to 75 Top 10s and more than $2.8 million in career winnings.
T4. Adam Wagner (75) – An All-American winner (with runner-up and third-place finishes on his résumé as well), Tennessee’s Wagner has long been one of the most revered BFL and Toyota Series anglers in the Mid-South. To wit: 75 Top 10s and 16 career wins in 214 events.
T4. David Wright (75) – Still going strong after three decades, Wright has been mopping up in BFLs since 1995, totaling 14 wins and $533,904 in 266 career tournaments.
7. Scott Dobson (72) – One of the foremost smallmouth sticks in the entire Great Lakes region, Dobson has long been a favorite for just about every tournament he fishes in the northern U.S. With a career that began as a co-angler in the BFL Michigan Division in 1995, Dobson’s talent carried him up the ladder to 12 seasons on the FLW Tour and Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit. As of this writing, Dobson had 72 Top 10s but he’s still chugging along, posting a 73rd Top 10 on July 11 at the Detroit River.
8. Mike Brueggen (71) – It only took Brueggen 165 events (dating back to 2002) to tally 71 MLF Top 10s. That’s a ridiculous 43.6% Top 10 rate for more than $380,000 in career winnings and 12 wins. And, his stats just keep on improving because by the time this article hit MLF’s website he already posted a 72nd Top 10.
9. Roger Fitzpatrick (69) – There may be no better time to recognize Fitzpatrick’s talent and MLF longevity than now after the Missouri pro won the Toyota Series Championship last year – one of 13 career wins and 69 Top 10s, which also includes five such finishes at the All-American.
T10. David Williams (68) – A former FLW Tour co-angler, four-time All-American qualifier and 10-time Toyota Series Championship qualifier, Williams has put together one of the best careers of any primary co-angler in MLF history. His 68 Top 10s include 10 wins to the tune of almost $200,000 in career winnings. Then, from June 20-28 he went on to tack on three more Top 10s, twice on the James River with the Phoenix Bass Fishing League and then on the Potomac River with the Toyota Series for a total of 71 Top 10s (as of July 22).
T10. Robert Walser (68) – Even after 30-plus years, Walser is still racking up Top 10s – his latest being a seventh-place finish at High Rock Lake in June in a BFL North Carolina Division event. In total, the Lexington, North Carolina, angler has tallied 14 wins and $584,041 in 327 MLF events.
