Mercury pro says that shortened leader better matches contemporary plastic baits

The good ol’ Carolina rig is still a regular in Mercury pro John Murray’s boat, but his setup has undergone some changes over the past few years. Murray has reduced his C-rig leader length to better match the buoyancy of soft plastics, a quick adjustment that takes advantage of all the positive aspects of fishing the “ball and chain.”
