CONROE, Tex. – Just like in Florida, the conditions during practice were not ideal for the MLF anglers during practice of the MLF Bass Pro Tour Huk Stage Two presented by Favorite Fishing. Cooler air temperatures and cloudy skies led to lower water temperatures than the pros were hoping for during their practice time.

However, there is hope on the horizon. Sunny skies return for Group A on Tuesday’s Shotgun Round while Group B will enjoy sunshine and 70 on Wednesday. The action just got underway.

Adrian Avena:“I feel like every day that goes by it’s going to get better. Today in practice I had about 12 bites so I’m just hoping that trend continues.”

Gary Klein:“This lake has never been a high numbers lake, but it’s a good quality lake. The lake is dirtier than I’ve ever seen it and it’s colder so these fish aren’t really around the banks.”

Shaw Grigsby:“It was tough since the fish are transitioning and really just getting started moving. I think it’s going to be scattered but there will be big fish caught.

Fred Roumbanis: “This is probably the worst practice I’ve ever had, so that means my week will probably be pretty good. I’m just going to have to let loose during the tournament. These fish are going to turn on any day now.”

Randall Tharp: “It’s tough to get a bite out here, but when you do get a bite it’s the right one so I’m ready to go.”

Tommy Biffle:“I’m sure guys are going to catch them good and catch some big ones. My practice was pretty tough, but I caught some good ones, but I need a few of them.”

Jared Lintner:“I think later in the week, they’re going to bite a lot better because the water temperature is warming up, and these guys are the best in the business. You know what’s going on when these guys get going.”

James Elam:“The water is really colored up and the water temperature isn’t great. These fish are in a pre-spawn funk right now, so I think later in the week it’s really going to bust loose.”

Timmy Horton:“I think it’s only going to get better. When you practice after a front that just came through it’s always tough. I found a few areas that I’m comfortable with so that should be good.”

Jesse Wiggins:“Personally for me it was super tough. I’m still in search mode. I know the lake has some monster bass in there but I just can’t seem to find them right now.”H
