Morrison drops 27-7 to lead early on Rayburn
BROOKELAND, Texas – Weigh-in on Day 1 of the Toyota Series Presented by Phoenix Boats event on Sam Rayburn Reservoir was not short on fireworks. Jeff Reynolds got things rolling with 24 pounds, 5 ounces, and a 10-10 for Berkley Big Bass. Then, New York angler Alec Morrison plunked down 27-9 to take the lead in commanding fashion. Behind the leaders, 110 pros caught limits, so a big Rayburn bag will go a long way on Day 2.
On the Angler of the Year side of things, Stephen Johnston is sitting in sixth with Cody Ross in 27th. Both looking good, but probably not good enough to unseat Todd Castledine, who weighed 15-3, and is sitting in 12th. With the points situation entering the event, Castledine needs to finish 28th or higher to lock up a historic fifth AOY in the Southwestern Division.
