LAKE WYLIE, S.C. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Wylie April 16 for the second of five stops in the North Carolina Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“Anglers are going to find fish pre- and postspawn,” said Snickers Peanut Butter Squared pro Chris Baumgardner of Gastonia, N.C. “Postspawn fish will be on the secondary points, and the spawning bass will be in the pockets. Topwater Rapalas, floating worms, trick worms and maybe even some topwater buzzbaits should work.

“It is good, old-fashioned springtime fishing, and they should be biting shallow,” Baumgardner went on to say. “It will probably take 16 to 17 pounds to win.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Buster Boyds Landing located at 3990 Highway 49/Old Charlotte Highway in Lake Wylie, S.C. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for the regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
