As fishing fans, you’re probably familiar with National Fishing and Boating Week. But if not, this is the year to get involved.

National Fishing and Boating Week was created by the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) as a celebration of the fun of spending time on the water, and to highlight the importance of recreational boating and fishing.

This year, National Fishing and Boating Week is June 4-12.

FLW hopes you’ll spend time on the water during this exciting week, and to help you prepare, FLW, South Bend and RBFF have teamed up to host National Fishing and Boating Week #ReelFun Fishing events at more than 1,000 participating Walmart stores around the country, June 3-5.

The events include games, giveaways and fishing tips from expert FLW anglers to help families make the most of their time on the water. Attendees will also receive a free digital subscription to FLW Bass Fishing magazine, a free protective fishing license holder and the opportunity to enter for a chance to win an all-expense paid, three-night vacation for four to Amelia Island, Fla., including a fishing excursion with Mike D, the host of South Bend’s Lunkerville television show.

Children will also receive an “Art of Conservation” baseball-style bass trading card from Wildlife Forever that includes a code for a free fishing lure when submitting a 2017 State-Fish Art entry. That’s a guaranteed catch, just for entering. For more information on the State-Fish art contest, visit StateFishArt.com.

By the way, many states offer free fishing days during National Fishing and Boating Week, when a fishing license is not required to fish on public waters.
