Newton turned in his most impressive FLW Tour season in 2010. While he didn’t post a victory or a top-10 finish, his consistency earned him seventh-place in the Angler of the Year race. Newton posted his first FLW win in EverStart competition on Lake Pickwick in 2003. Newton is married to Traci and they have one son. Newton, who loves to cook on the grill and enjoys a good BBQ, describes himself as a power fisherman who prefers to use a jig in shallow, dirty water. Newton said his most memorable fishing moment is when he and his son caught their first fish together, which was a 4-pound bass. His son had just turned two years old at the time.
