Brent Ehrler’s best bait for pitching, flipping for bass on isolated cover

Yamamoto Flappin' Hog's flapping twin tails produce unique action for pitching at targets
October 24, 2022 • Bass Pro Tour

California pro Brent Ehrler has long been a fan of flipping and pitching to isolated pieces of cover, and his go-to bait for all manner of cover – docks, grass, rocks, etc. – is the Yamamoto Flappin’ Hog. This popular creature bait features twin tails that produce a tasty flapping action when the bait falls (hence the name Flappin’ Hog), and two additional styles of appendage on the body that impart vibration and action.

Ehrler Texas rigs the Flappin’ Hog on a 4/0 Gamakatsu Heavy Cover Hook, with a 3/8-ounce ARK Tungsten Flipping Weight and fishes it year-round whenever he’s pitching to shallow targets. Here’s why!
