It was a two-horse race for most of the day between rookie Jake Lawrence and living legend Jacob Wheeler where Lawrence gained the lead after a slow morning, then Wheeler reclaimed the top spot in the final minutes of Period 3. But, it’s truly not over until it’s over as Lawrence made a 5-pound, 9-ounce catch in the final seconds for 83-2 on 27 scorable bass to earn his first Bass Pro Tour event win.
Bass Pro Tour action will resume June 5-8 for Lowrance Stage 5 Presented by Mercury on Kentucky Lake, but first many of the anglers will head to Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia for B&W Trailer Hitches Heavy Hitters Presented by Bass Pro Shops on May 17-22.
