As usual for Kentucky Lake, the Costa FLW Series presented by Lowrance was dominated by ledge fishing. Jason Lambert earned the trophy in no small part due to a crankbait, but the whole gamut of typical ledge baits performed for the field. One bait that caught a lot of fish without a lot of mentions was a drop-shot, but that’s generally the fate of finesse stuff on the Tennessee River.
1. Jason Lambert caught a lot of his fish on a Hog Farmer Baits Hog Wobbler head with a 7-inch Castaic Jerky J and a 6th Sense Lures Cloud 9 C25.
2. Finishing just 7 ounces behind Jason Lambert, Cole Floyd caught his fish on a Texas-rigged Zoom Ol’ Monster in tequila sunrise, a Strike King 10XD (blue/chartreuse) and a drop-shot with a Roboworm Fat Straight Tail Worm in morning dawn color.
3. Making a big move up from ninth to third, Randy Haynes used Profound Outdoors Z-Boss 22 and 24 crankbaits (spot candy and grand shad colors) and a hitch-colored Zoom Swimmer on a 1-ounce Strike King Squadron Head.
4. Georgia pro Micah Frazier finished fourth and used a scrounger as well as a Buckeye Football Jig with a black/blue craw.
5. Clent Davis threw a variety of baits including a deep-diving Duel Hardcore crankbait, a Nichols Lures Ben Parker Magnum Spoon and a worm.
6. Greg Bohannan gathered all of his final-day weight with a 3/4-ounce Bass-X Football Jig with a green pumpkin Strike King Rage Craw.
7. A 5-inch Lake Fork Tackle Flutter Spoon and a 3/4-ounce custom hair jig were the top producers for seventh-place pro Tom Reddington.
8. Jeff Defew put his faith in a Strike King 10XD, a Nichols Lures Ben Parker Magnum Spoon and a jig.
9. Local pro Austin Brown gained one spot to finish ninth after throwing a Strike King 10XD and a 3/4-ounce Slongs Football Jig with an Attack Pak craw in green pumpkin.
10. Kentucky Lake guide Brandon Hunter found his deeper fish with a Lucky Craft LC 6.5XD crankbait and when he went shallower, he switched to the 3.5 XD. He also caught fish on the Ben Parker Magnum Flutter Spoon.
