Keyes’ journal, “Life on Tour,” shows readers what professional bass fishing is really all about
Have you ever wondered what life on the FLW Tour is really like? As fans and spectators of the tour, we are privy to many of the tournament highlights courtesy of exciting FLW telecasts on ESPN, the rigorous reporting in Bass Fishing magazine as well as the detailed coverage offered online at flwtour.com. However, as the anglers will readily admit, there is a tremendous amount of behind-the-scenes action as well as the day-to-day grind of the tour that rarely makes headlines. In an effort to bring the FLW Tour closer to home for our readers, OperationBass.com presents “Life On Tour” with Daniel and Annie Keyes – a comprehensive and detailed look at life on the inside of the professional bass-fishing circuit.
While the staff at OperationBass.com believes that the Keyes journal will provide readers with intriguing insight into the tour, it is probably worth repeating the methodology and motivation behind “Life On Tour” as prominently featured on the Keyes personal Web site:
“FLW Tour pro Daniel Keyes and his wife Annie are keeping a journal of their year on the tour. Their goal is to provide a glimpse of what life is really like for the majority of professional fishermen, who are struggling to make it big. It is open, honest, sometimes irrelevant, but always real. You will see how anglers prepare for each FLW Tour event, the emotional pendulum that a wife endures as her husband weighs his fish each day, the approach to practice days on the water, the importance of friends on the road and much more. Daniel and Annie Keyes currently live in a motor home. They have dedicated their lives to each other and to Daniel’s dream of making a career as a professional angler. This is their life on the tour.”
Background
Daniel Keyes, 42, began tournament fishing in 1983 and eventually turned professional in 1995. Keyes, a regular on the FLW Tour since 1996, currently resides in Manchester, N.H. However, for all intents and purposes, Keyes lives full-time in his motor home along with his wife, Annie, logging approximately 40,000 miles through 30 states per year to compete in fishing tournaments and to promote sponsor products. Through the couple’s unique vision – Life On Tour – fellow anglers and fans of the FLW Tour have been able get a colorful look at what it’s really like to be a professional angler on tour.
