Tournaments planned for two lakes not previously on FLW schedule

Operation Bass announced the tournament schedule for 2002 season of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour yesterday from the Forrest Wood Open in Detroit, Mich. In keeping with FLW tradition going back to 1996, the 2002 season opens in Jan. on Florida’s Lake Okeechobee. The 2002 FLW Tour season will close Sept. 11-14 with the Championship in Shreveport, La. While the Red River has twice been selected for FLW Tour events, most recently this past May and in 2000 for the Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship, the exact body of water has not yet been determined for the 2002 Championship.

Alabama’s Wheeler Lake, last on an FLW Tour schedule in 1998, was selected for stop number two of 2002. For the fifth consecutive year Beaver Lake in Ark. hosts the prestigious Wal-Mart Open. Michigan’s Lake St. Clair will again host the Forrest Wood Open next June. New stops added to the Wal-Mart FLW Tour for 2002 include Lake Ouachita near Hot Springs, Ark. and Old Hickory Lake near Nashville, Tenn. selected for tournament number five.
